So who am i? My names Jody as you may have figured out! I'm a 29 year old Leicester based blogger that likes to write mostly about fitness and health but i may on occasion add in other things that tickle my pickle.

My journey through life continues to be full of adventure and discovery. This website is my little space on the internet to write Blog posts and share information of my experiences.

Everything i have written about comes from not only my own meandering experience but also that of my friends and family. NOT from information i have regurgitated without first experiencing it for myself.

I hope you like it!
THE BEGINNING
MY STORY SO FAR...

We all have our reasons for wanting to get fit...
Honestly, it needs to be a pretty good reason just to get us into the gym in the first place.
So here is my reason for why i started my journey and as cliche as it may sound. It all started with a break up. Most disappointingly of all, it wasn't even a bad breakup.
I think the main reason was that i felt i had just let myself go a little. Whilst i wasn't overweight i was starting to get a bit ''fluffy''around the edges. I was getting close to 30 and my metabolism had started to drag its feet and eating just became something of a habit when i was bored. I couldn't run for more than a few minutes without being exhausted. Kids birthday parties now tired me out horrendously. Something had to change.
My first bright idea was to become a vegan and as much as i love animals i just couldn't survive without meat products. Mainly because... i am a VERY picky eater. I did pick up some positive changes here though. I still to this day eat a LOT more fruit, veg and Quorn meat etc. Sometimes when i go out for a nice meal.. i even order from the veggie section!
On top of this i also joined a gym but i'm sad to say, my workouts revolved mostly around cardio. Endless sessions on the treadmill and rowing machine. At some point during this time i started to research fitness in general and decided to add a lot more resistance work into my gym time.
Life changing epiphany! Not only did i really enjoy the feeling of being strong. I liked the changes it made to my body. I never got bulky or heavy. My weight has pretty much stayed the same even though now you can see muscle definition and i now have the strength to do pull-ups all by myself like a big girl.
Since making this change gym has also become a very social thing for me since a lot of my friends have jumped on board and we all help push and support each other.
My newest adventure is my foray into power lifting . I hope that i can develop my skills and strength over the next few months so that i can attend a power lifting meet and (fingers crossed) come away with a trophy... since I've always wanted one and what better time than now?
Wish me luck!
My current workout plan is based around strength gains in compound lifts as i aim to compete in powerlifting mid 2017. Ontop if this i follow a pyramid structure for accessory work.
EXERCISE

I base each of my gym sessions around a compound lift such as deadlift on a 3 week plan based on the 5,3,1 program combined with a GZCL type structure for hypertrophy.

Ontop of this each week i add in 3 HIIT (High intensity interval) circuits for roughly 20 minutes and 2 LISS (Low intensisty steady state) for anything over 30 minutes. I mix this up with running, rowing, skipping and basically anything that jacks up my heart rate.

I do have a very high volume approach to training which is why i break down my week. For example, Tuesday is bench/chest day. This helps my recovery whilst allowing me volume without overtraining.

I also rock climb, snowboard, swim, hike, cycle and play squash ontop of any time at the gym... Purely because its fun and it doesnt feel like work.

I have recently implemented fasting into my diet combined with consuming 150g avg of protein each day.
When i'm not fasting i do not count calories.
DIET

I have found that this method of eating had the best results for me. It helped me to drop my body fat down whilst maintaining muscle mass and strength. This was a dream come true for me as it has made my diet manageable as its easy to follow, whilst having many potential health benefits.

If you would like to know more please check out my fasting article which contains some general information, or my blog posts where you can find out about how i went about experimenting with fasting.

I do supplement my diet with Whey Isolate, BCAAS, fish oil, multi vits and i cycle creatine monthly.
